Bassett Unified Students to Compete in Los Angeles County Spelling Bee

WHAT:       Six Bassett Unified students who won top spots in their campus and District Spelling Bee contests will compete against the county’s best spellers in the Los Angeles County Scripps Regional Spelling Bee, hosted by the Parents Association of North Hollywood. The students will include Van Wig Elementary School fourth-grader Chelsea Xu, Don Julian fifth-grader Pedro Rojas, Torch Seventh-grader Stephanie Galvez, Edgewood sixth-grader John Barreto, Van Wig third-grader Alesha Shafeeq and Sunkist fourth-grader Edison Lee.

                   8 to 9 a.m.

 

WHERE:     North Hollywood High School Auditorium

                   5231 Colfax Ave., North Hollywood

                  

DETAILS:    Up to 200 students public, private, magnet and religious schools in Los Angeles will compete in the Los Angeles County Scripps Regional Spelling Bee. The winner of the L.A. County Spelling Bee competition will advance to the National Scripps Spelling Bee competition hosted in Washington D.C. May-June 2019.
