I am so privileged to have the honor of being the Principal at a school that I love. Over the years, we have built a tradition of excellence at Edgewood. We take pride in being a school where every student can find an avenue for success and in being a community where everyone in the Knight family strives to find the best in themselves and others. We have much to be proud of at Edgewood!
The success of our students is built on the partnership we have with our families and the Edgewood community. I am grateful that we have such an amazing relationship with our community and we will continue to strive to be the type of school that our families can be proud to send their children to. Our entire staff works very hard to create a positive environment where every person’s unique strengths and talents are celebrated. The combination of focusing on our students’ academic success as well as their social and emotional well-being creates an environment where our students do amazing things every year.
We are proud of all of the academic opportunities we offer our students, with strong core academic programs as well as outstanding elective programs for our middle school students. We offer a Career Exploration Class, along with many other academic and enrichment opportunities for students to pursue their goals. We have a kind, caring, highly-qualified staff who truly believes that every one of our students can and will succeed.
I am proud to be a part of the tradition of success that has been built over many years at Edgewood and am proud to be your Principal. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with you again this year and I look forward to many more successes and growth that our school and students will achieve.
Rhonda Lentz, Principal
On Monday, January 22, 2018, we interviewed Mrs. Rhonda Lentz, our principal here at Edgewood Academy.
To begin with, Mrs. Lentz was born on January 24 and was raised in Glendora, California but she currently lives in Upland. Moreover, she studied at Cal Poly Pomona and also attended La Verne. The mascot of Cal Poly Pomona is a bronco and La Verne's is a leopard. Mrs. Lentz taught for 20 years: 2 years at a private school, 17 years at Edgewood, and 1 year at Bassett High School.
Mrs. Lentz's goal of being a principal at Edgewood is to help everyone to be successful. Mrs. Lentz doesn't have kids, but she says that Edgewood is like her family and she treats Edgewood's kids like if they were her own. She also said that her favorite thing about Edgewood is that she loves to see the students grow up.
However, Mrs. Lentz wants to improve Edgewood, too. She would first like to get more technology, like laptops and tablets, and to also repaint some classroom walls and put different gates for the students' safety.
Finally, when Mrs. Lentz has free time she loves to travel. This summer she is going on a cruise to Alaska. Her all time favorite thing to eat is Mexican food and especially carne asada tacos.
